とんとむかしあるところに
おじいさんとおばあさんがいました。
ある日、おじいさんがやまのはたけで
まめのたねをまいていました。
ひとつぶまいたらせんつぶになあれ
ひとつぶまいたらせんつぶになあれ
するとたぬきがやってきて、
せんつぶまいたらひとつぶになあれ
ひとつぶまいたらくさってしまえ
とからかいました。

とんとむかしあるところにおじいさんとおばあさんがいました。
Quite long ago in that place there was an old man and an old woman.
ある日、おじいさんがやまのはたけでまめのたねを
まいていました。

ひとつぶまいたらせんつぶになあれ

おじいさんがおいかけたらたぬきは
あかんべえをしてにげていきました。
おじいさんはくやしくてたまりません。

おじいさんがおいかけたらたぬきはあかんべえをしてにげて
いきました。

ひとつぶまいたらくさってしまえ
とからかいだしました。

そこで、つぎの日、

たぬきのすわっていたきりかぶにとりもちをべっとりぬりつけて
おきました。

とびだしました。たぬきがにげようと
するとおしりにとりもちがくっついて
たつことができません。たぬきはおじいさんに
つかまってぐるぐるまきにしばられてしまいました。

おじいさんがなわをもってとびだしました。

たぬきがにげようとすると

おしりにとりもちがくっついてたつことができません。

たぬきがにげださんようにきをつけておくれ。」
おじいさんはたぬきをだいどころのはりにつるすと、
まちへでかけていきました。

おじいさんはたぬきをかついでいえにもどっていきました。
The old man returned home with the raccoon on his shoulder.
「おばあさん、こんやはたぬきじるじゃ。」

「なるほど。それもそうだ。」
きのいいおばあさんはたぬきをおろしてなわをほどいてあげました。
そのとたん、たぬきはきねでおばあさんのあたまをぽかり。かわいそうに
おばあさんはそれっきりうごかなくなりました。

おばあさんがあわもちをついていたらたぬきがいいました。

「おばあさん、おばあさん、おらもてつだうからなわをほどいて
おくれ。」

「いいとも。」
そこでたぬきはうさぎと
いっしょにいっぱい
かやをかりとりました。

うさぎがやまでかやをかっているところへたぬきが
やってきました。

「かちかちやまのかちかちどりがないているんだよ。」
「そうか、かちかちどりがないているのか。」
たぬきがあるきだすとうさぎはたぬきの
せおっているかやのたばに火をつけました。

「それじゃはこぶとしようか。」

うさぎもたぬきもせなかにかやのたばをせおって
やまみちをおりていきました。

いっているうちにせなかがあつく
なり、あわててかやをはずそうと
しましたがもうまにあいません。
「あちあち、はやく火をけしてくれ。」
たぬきはもがきながらかけて
いきました。

かやはたちまちもえあがってぼうぼうおとをたてました。
The thatch suddenly burst into flames and made a boubou sound.
「うさぎどん、ぼうぼういうのはなんのおとだい。」

もんでいたら、

ふねをつくっているところだ。」

そのつぎの日、うさぎがすぎばやしでふねをつくっていたら、

そのどろにまつやにをまぜてどろぶねをつくってあげました。

それをきいてたぬきもふねがほしくなりました。

でもうさぎはしらんかお。たぬきは
どろぶねといっしょにずぶずぶしずんでいきます。
「ああ、もうだめだ......」
それをみてうさぎがいいました。
「おばあさんのかたきうちだ。おもいしったか。」
たぬきはがっくりとうなだれ、そのまま海のそこへ
しずんでいきました。

たぬきはどろぶねといっしょにずぶずぶしずんでいきます。

それをみてうさぎがいいました。
